Senate District 60 held its Endorsing Convention May 19, which was expressly called for no other business but to endorse candidates to the Minnesota Legislature's House District 60A and House District 60B.
The parlimentarian of the convention was none other than 59-A's Barry Hickethier. And a fine job he did.
We think we've got two marvelous candidates and the local Republican organization handily endorsed them both.
I've had the pleasure of getting to know each of these fine young men and I am impressed with them both. They are articulate, thoughtful and conservative.
Both of these fine candidates realize that the DFL has created a ginormous opportunity for retirement for themselves with their robust advocacy of rampant taxation and spending. Eric. Franzen and Adam Martin will repeatedly tell the voters of SD60 that they believe that taxpayers should get relief in their pocketbooks while government gets out of telling them how to live their lives.
I took a moment, at the conclusion of the proceedings to point out that SD60 DFL has plans. Back in March, this lefty DFL blog crowed about a "Great Day For Al Franken". Now things don't look so great for Al. But the blog also reported;
Joel Bergstrom, SD60 (DFL) Chair, then talked to the crowd about the condition of our district's organization. He emphasized how much of a difference we make when we go out into the suburbs to help other DFL candidates since Frank Hornstein and Margaret Anderson-Kelliher don't have competitive races. We'll be adopting a few races this year. I'll be lobbying for Mike Obermueller in 38B and Ted Butler in 49A. I'm sure they'll be a few more.
The Republicans' job in SD60 will be to aggressively inform voters that they have a choice if they want the Democrat Farmer-Labor Party to stop draining their wallets and purses, forcing Democrats to keep more of their resources at home in their own district.
Let the campaign begin!
