Join CD-5 at the MN State Fair Aug. 21 & 29! PDF Print E-mail

From CD-5 Vice-Chair Dave Jones:

The Minnesota State Fair funs from Thursday, August 21 to Labor Day.

The Fifth Congressional District is responsible to man the MN GOP Booth opening day, Thursday, August 21 and on "Metro Day", Friday, August 29, 2008.

You will not need to stay the whole day. We'll bust the day into four pieces: 9am to noon, noon to 3 pm, 3pm to 6 pm, 6 pm to 9 pm. Please arrive early and stay the whole shift. If you wish to help and are available for only part of a shift, please let me know your schedule, we are pleased to have your participation.

Please respond by Saturday August 16, 2008 so I can set the schedule in advance.

Thank you so much for your help this year, in advance, and everybody's help last year that made things a success. It'll be fun again this year.

Upon completion of each shift, the State Party will reimburse each volunteer for the advance ticket rate of $8.00.

SD60 Door Knocking - Saturdays PDF Print E-mail
The campaign season is upon us and SD60 GOP is door knocking every Saturday up to Election Day. We are creating 3 shifts: 10 a.m., Noon and 2 p.m. These door knocking missions will be held in various precincts withing SD60 to identify voters. This is crucial work to be done in preparation for Get Out The Vote phone-banking immediately before Election Day. Past elections have proven that effective GOTV work can gain a percentile or 3 for our voter turnout. And that effort will only be as good as the Voter Identification work that precedes it. And that time is now.

To sign up and join our winning teams, call Scott Brooks at 612-824-6218 or e-mail This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it to be placed on one of the 3 shifts and learn where we are meeting.

The best kept secret of door knocking is that it burns calories. Why not do so in the most beautiful districts of the Twin Cities, SD60? Contact Scott today.

3 Candidates Endorsed Week of June 23 PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 26 June 2008 18:48

Tim Utz was endorsed by the HD 50A Republicans on Tuesday night. From Tim's campaign website:

I am seeking your support for Minnesota State House 50-A. “We the People” must take charge of government and personal responsibility for our lives. I seek to represent the citizens of in Minnesota House seat 50-A, making sure Minnesota stops expanding, takes a time out, self evaluates, goes on a diet, and gives Minnesota citizens our constitutional freedoms back.

On Wedneseday night 62A endorsed Dave Shegstad, and 62B endorsed Jeff Gunness. From the SD-62 website:

Conservative small business owner and property rights advocate, Dave Shegstad received the Republican endorsement for his run against DFL incumbent Jim Davnie in House District 62A on Wednesday, June 25th.

The brief convention was held at the Kenwood Community Center.

Shegstad spoke about LRT issues, the need to stop pushing business out of Minnesota and talked about ideas to bring industry back to Minneapolis. One of Dave's suggestions was to try to attract lucrative turbine manufacturing to Minneapolis to create new jobs.

Shegstad's first leap into politics was when he ran for Minneapolis' Ward 9 City Council seat in 2005. The bid was unsuccessful, but Dave says it was a learning experience and he's ready to take on Davnie this fall.
